PXE-E61, PXE-MOF & Operating System not found – Acer Travelmate 3238?
Im sure this has nothing to do with the HDD being fried but here goes. FYI im using an Acer T3238 Laptop and i have my recovery disc burmed into dvd.
I wanted to reformat my computer. Before i actually put my recovery disc, i used my brother’s win xp cd to help partition my HDD into one c drive.(theres of course this one important partition i cannot delete) After doing so, in goes recovery disc. The formating and file copy process went fine. The disc even ejects and the message "restore complete" appears. Upon clicking ok the system reboots. Unfortunately the following appears:
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Check Cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM
Operating System not found
I believe the pxe thingy is due to the network boot. I’ve disabled it. The only problem now is the OS not found. I’ve place in the cd once again and it copied files(but i think its overwriting) and says ‘restore complete’ again. Yet again OS not Found.
2 words,PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks lots people =(
hmm these two threads both suggest that there’s something wrong with the connection between your motherboard and hard drive:

The second one has some people doing a DIY fix, forcing the hard drive to sit in it’s bay tighter.
You might want to have a read through. Good luck!

pxe-e61 media test failed
pxe-m0f
I know I can fix that. But the big problem is that my computer turns off by it self so I can’t fix that problem. It cant be my hard drive because I kept it in the case. What I think it is. I might of disconnected a wire and not put it back in properly. but I open my computer and put everything back in place and I get nothing. The fan works. Can someone tell me why it wont keep the power on, even when it is plugged in. I would hate to go to a repair shot.
In short, you broke it.
Time for a new laptop, no point in throwing money into that money pit.
How can i get my e-system laptop to work properly again?

You need to get a Windows Xp CD or your recovery discs. Insert into your laptop, then restart. Follow the directions to reinstall your operating system.
pxe-e61 pxe-mof?
what does this mean,,when i try to boot i get this message
pxe-e61 and pxe-mof:exiting pxe I’m haveing trouble getting my Dell optiplex g1 to boot. I get the big blue DELL and no further than that. It says "media test failure " Help !!
This has nothing to do with the HDD. It is because the BIOS hasn’t been set to boot from the HDD or the HDD is not bootable so it is trying to boot from a network. You are getting the media test failure message because I’m guessing you are not set up to boot from a network. (i.e. there is no network for it to boot from)
How can I install 3Com services from Ghost version 8 Corporate Edition?
I’m trying to install the PXE server from the Ghost Server Corporate Edition version 8. I’m a student and haven’t had much experiance with Ghost. I’ve installed Ghostcast server, but I can’t seem to find a way to install 3Com servives. I would like for the clients to do a network boot rather than have a disk.
It’s a pain in the butt to boot off the NICs. I’ve always used RIS (Remote Installation Server) in Windows Server if I’ve been forced to install on PCs without floppies, usb or CDs. If you plan to use the 3Com, make sure all the worksstations have 3Com NICs. Then you need to install the 3Com PXE Boot Services from the Ghost CD. Start the 3COM FTP services, create a boot image, boot menu and install procedure (it’s all listed on symantec’s site).
Again, a boot CD, floppy or USB would work much easier.

ubuntu pxe boot please help?
Make a image of a installed ubuntu.. store image on a server so that clients can pxe boot and deploy that image. this is my plan. how would i do this
i have no idea.. please help.. any tutorial.. idea.. step by step guide with screenshots:P (dreaming)lol
cheers
I think, (notice think don’t know for sure), that this method would work using systemimager.
http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-back-up-an-ubuntu-8.10-system-with-systemimager
(I know that says 8.10 but it shouldn’t be any different for any newer versions).
You will have to change step 6 to use the PXE boot rather than the CD boot but that shouldn’t be to big an issue.
You also might could use MondoRescue http://www.mondorescue.org/docs/mondorescue-howto.html#QUICKSTART
to build an image then put that ISO into your repository machine.
Do note: ALL YOUR HARDWARE WILL HAVE TO BE IDENTICAL ON ALL MACHINES! (Since the image will have all the hardware drivers, etc)
PXE-E61 Media Test Failure, Check Cable?
I get the following message on my laptop when I boot it up: "PXE-E61 Media Test Failure, Check Cable"
It doesn’t really do anything, as the computer proceeds to boot up appropriately, but I would like to get rid of the message.
Can anyone recommend how to do that? Or if there is something I need to get fixed, could you tell me what it is?
And don’t tell me I should hit my computer, because that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
It may mean that either you have an invalid disk drive configuration in your CMOS settings or your hard drive is starting to fail.
Either situation can be checked by rebooting into the CMOS setup screen of your computer.
PXE boot on lan test?
How to test my pc wheter its really support boot on lan (pxe 2.0) function.
Check your BIOS. If there is a boot option to boot on lan, select that as the first boot option. Before you reboot, have a BOOTP server with TFTP running. Or, if you have another computer sitting around, download and burn a copy of Knoppix (knoppix.org) and start the Terminal Server service from the KDE menu and that’ll set up a BOOTP and TFTP server for you that’ll start an instance of Knoppix on the computer you’re testing.
NCR 7454-3200 PXE boot problem??
I recently received a NCR and the first time it booted up fine, but now it has problems. I installed 2000 on the disk using my laptop (NT doesn’t support USB), and now it’ll either come up with a black screen with a blinking bar in the corner or it’ll come up with the error codes PXE-E61 (Media test failed, check cable) and PXE-M0F (Exiting Intel® ROM) and then the blinking bar. I’ve tried disabling the roms and having it boot off just the disk, but it’ll just give me the black screen with the bar. It says it has a: Intel Base Code, PXE 2.0 (build 083) and the system ROM is: E9B5-FFFF. Any ideas on how to by-pass the PXE or how to install them on 2000? I don’t want to hook this up to any other computer, I just want to have it run off the HD and possible hook it to an adapter for the internet. The HD works cause my laptop installed 2000 on it. So ummm……. Help????
The NCR 7454-3200 is a touchscreen computer, that most resturants used and some still use. If you go in to a Dunkin Donuts, you’ll probably see one as they select your order on the screen and the side facing you will show your order as they put it in. I received this from my brother who used to work at a Dunkin Donuts and they were going to toss this in the compactor ,along with the other one that my brother didn’t grab, cause they upgraded their system.
so long a question……. what is that????
