This latest release of System Center Configuration Manager will help customers reduce their operational costs by providing flexible, centralized power management planning and application. R3 will also provide enterprise class reporting of power consumption and savings in Khw and CO2 emissions measurements. In addition to power management, R3 will deliver scale and performance improvements, as well as add OS deployment enhancements. This short demo shows some of the new features and functionality.

When possible you should look to upgrade an app, or recode if if you have source code access and expertise. If those aren’t options, he also talks about implementing shims, which may allow an app to run on Windows 7.
